The movie was all about saving the world on July 4th mate. I agree that if you figured that out only during the speech, it must have sounded cheesy. But then, you have to blame yourself for taking so long to realise that, coz, there were some fairly good pointers like it being a Hollywood movie, July 2nd Alien attack...and this one other thing....the TITLE OF THE MOVIE, INDEPENDENCE DAY!!! DUMBASS! madaya!
